We have all been hurt before, or maybe even betrayed by somebody at some point in our lives. (If you don’t know what that feels like, be on guard, because it will inevitably happen to you at some point. It even happened to Jesus and He was the Son of God!) None of us are immune from the pain of these moments and recently I was reminded of just such a thing. Continue reading
Help me to believe in my unbelief.
The words a friend of mine once suggested I pray at a time when my world was collapsing in front of me several years ago. At the time, I was hurt, frustrated and full of sadness to an extent that it blinded me from ever seeing God’s plan for me several years later. Unbeknownst to me at the time, He was setting the stage to teach me some valuable life lessons, draw me nearer to Him and use these things (including this blog) to help encourage and inspire others in their walk with God.
I find myself now in a similar situation with this endless job search that is driving me nuts. Continue reading
Here is another good song to get you thru some of the heartbreak you might be experiencing—whether it’s waiting on God to come thru and answer your prayers or being denied something you thought you really needed. It comes from one of my favorite Christian artists, TobyMac. Hope it encourages you as much as it encourages me. (Lyrics below the video.)
Being patient and waiting on God’s timing. If you’re like me, this is something I fail in pretty much every day.

A cool concept I realized lately occurred in such a sudden moment, that had I not been actively paying attention to, would’ve missed completely. In fact, had I not taken the chance I would’ve never learned from it either.
Here’s what happened…
There is a phrase that goes, “When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.”
In other words, a lot of people turn to the god of retail therapy to help them through tough times. Or they find various other things to take the mind off of worries. But the true Christian understands that when the going gets tough, the tough go to their knees and pray. Continue reading
When things don’t seem to go your way, take heart and remember that it is all part of His plan.
I was re-reminded of this concept the other day when I was turned down for both a promotion and a raise within the company I presently work for. The reason I was given was quite ridiculous and extremely unfair, and my emotions skyrocketed as a result. Anger and frustration quickly filled my heart as I thought I had proven myself to the company to be deserving of it.
I found myself asking God as to how all this was part of His plan for me. He did not reveal the answers to what I was seeking, but He did give me a few other things in response to my request. Continue reading
